Your First 100 Leads: Where Founders Should Really Start

You don’t need a sales team. You don’t need a CRM stack. And you definitely don’t need to dump $5K into ads.

To get your first 100 leads, you need clarity, consistency, and a keyboard.

Here’s how to start generating pipeline—with zero fluff and maximum signal.

Step 1: Start With the Network You Already Have

Make a list of:

  • Past coworkers
  • Early users or beta testers
  • Warm intros from advisors or investors
  • LinkedIn connections in your ICP

Prompt GPT:

“Draft a short intro email to a former colleague asking for feedback on our AI lead gen tool for B2B founders.”

You’ll be surprised how many will reply—and refer.

Step 2: Nail Your One-Liner

Your cold message won’t get a second read if your positioning is vague.

Template:

“We help [role] at [company type] solve [problem] without [pain]—using [product].”

Example:

“We help RevOps leads at Series A SaaS companies reduce demo no-shows by 40%—without more reps or reminders.”

Test it. Tweak it. Then put it everywhere.

Step 3: Send 10 Personalized Messages a Day

Use a tight script:

  • Reference a trigger (content they shared, a podcast quote, recent funding)
  • State what you’re building
  • Ask for feedback—not a pitch

Example:

“Hey Jamie—loved your post on scaling RevOps with fewer tools. We’re building a simple AI lead tracker for RevOps teams like yours. Would love your 2 cents on where we’re missing.”

Real humans get real responses.

Step 4: Publish 2x a Week on LinkedIn

Topics that convert:

  • A problem you’re solving, explained simply
  • Lessons from customer convos
  • A myth in your space, debunked
  • Behind-the-scenes of building your product

Don’t overthink it. Just post what you’re learning and who you’re helping.

Step 5: Track Everything in a Simple Sheet

At this stage, you don’t need HubSpot.

Use:

  • Columns for name, role, company, source, last contact, status
  • Color code by hot/warm/cold
  • Weekly reminders to follow up with anyone who hasn’t replied

Keep it light. Keep it moving.

What to Do This Week

  • Message 10 people per day for 5 days
  • Post 2 short, value-driven LinkedIn updates
  • Add every reply and open convo to your lead tracker
  • Review who’s most engaged—schedule 3 discovery calls
  • Ask each call for 1 referral

No tools. No funnels. Just focused execution.
